Frequently Asked Questions
Exploring Your Dental Questions
Insurance & Payment
Do you accept most dental insurance plans?
Yes! Our office works with numerous major dental insurance providers such as Cigna, Delta Dental, MetLife, and more. Visit /insurance for a full breakdown or call (512) 858-6987 to confirm your plan.
Are there solutions for patients without dental insurance?
You still have options. Gloss Dental Membership starts at $25 a month and includes cleanings, exams, routine X-rays, with discounts on additional care.
Do you allow payments over several months?
Absolutely—flexible payment solutions are available through trusted financing partners such as CareCredit for eligible patients.
Checkups & Treatments
What’s the ideal schedule for routine dental visits?
Most patients benefit from dental visits about every six months. Early intervention for decay or gum issues keeps care simpler and less expensive, with customized recall timing as needed.
How often is it best to brush your teeth each day?
Brushing at least twice a day is advised by the ADA. To keep enamel strong, avoid brushing right after acidic drinks or foods and wait about half an hour.
Which Toothbrush Is More Effective: Electric or Manual?
With proper brushing, both types are effective, yet evidence shows electric toothbrushes typically outperform manuals in plaque removal. Sonicare and Oral-B include tools that support a more complete clean.
When should a child have their initial dental checkup?
It’s ideal for children to see the dentist by age 3, or once they’re able to complete an exam. Early visits help us observe growth and support good dental practices from the start.
How should I respond if I’m struggling with bad breath?
Plaque, gum disease, and bacteria are typical causes of bad breath. Relief may come from professional cleanings, proper tongue hygiene, regular flossing and mouthwash use, and avoiding very spicy foods. Persistent odor can indicate a larger issue that needs attention.
What is a night guard used for?
A night guard is a clear, individualized oral appliance designed to be worn overnight to help prevent grinding, clenching, and TMJ discomfort while preserving tooth structure.
What are my choices for restoring missing teeth?
At our practice, you can choose between fixed restorations like implants and bridges or removable solutions such as dentures and partials. Fixed options feel more like real teeth, and we’ll guide your decision based on your needs.
What’s involved in how dental implants work?
Dental implants follow a two-phase approach. A titanium post is anchored in the jawbone, then topped with a crown, bridge, or denture. This solution closely resembles natural teeth in both appearance and function.
How can I identify gum disease early?
Indicators of gum disease may be bleeding during oral hygiene, persistent bad breath, and loose or sensitive teeth. Because it can develop quietly, ongoing dental visits are important for early detection.
Are dental X-rays harmful or safe?
Yes. Current dental X-ray systems use a tiny amount of radiation—much less than what you encounter from the sun—and we uphold strict safety standards with modern technology.
